Michelle Iravuhah is an ICF ACC credentialed executive coach and the founder of Coaching By Michelle, a luxury executive coaching practice based in Kenya. She works with C-suite executives, business founders, and senior leaders who carry the weight of high-stakes leadership, often in isolation.

Before coaching, Michelle founded and ran a business in the education sector, an industry she had no prior experience in. She built it from the ground up, learning every dimension of the operation while running it simultaneously. That experience of leading alone, carrying the full cognitive and emotional weight of a business with no structural support, became the foundation of her coaching practice. She came to coaching first as a client, then trained and credentialed to bring that same space to other leaders.

Her work centres on leadership isolation as a structural reality of senior roles, not a personal weakness. Her whitepaper, “The Isolation Paradox: Why Success Creates Distance in Leadership,” synthesizes 39 academic sources on executive loneliness, including research showing 50% prevalence among CEOs and measurable impacts on decision-making, organizational performance, and leader wellbeing. She positions coaching as infrastructure for how successful leaders operate, not as intervention for when things go wrong.

Michelle holds an MBA in Strategic Management and a degree in Information Technology. She is also the founder of The Brunch Network, a community for ambitious entrepreneurs and founders in Kenya.

Speaking & Podcast Topics

What I talk about.

01

Leadership Isolation Is Structural, Not Personal

Why the higher you rise, the fewer people can hold the full complexity of your decisions with you. How isolation is built into senior roles by design, and what that costs leaders, teams, and organizations over time.

02

The Isolation Paradox: What the Research Says About Executive Loneliness

Drawing from 39 academic sources, a look at the prevalence of executive loneliness, its measurable impact on leadership performance, and why capable leaders carry it silently. Based on Michelle’s whitepaper.

03

Coaching as Infrastructure, Not Intervention

Why the most effective leaders treat coaching the way they treat strategy, financial planning, and governance: as part of how they operate, not as something they seek when things go wrong.

04

From Founder to Coach: What Running a Business Taught Me About Leading Alone

Michelle’s personal story of building a business in an unfamiliar sector, the cycles of burnout and isolation that came with it, discovering coaching by chance, and why she pivoted fully into coaching for senior leaders.

05

The Hidden Cost of Senior Leadership

What senior leadership actually costs the person in the chair. The cognitive load of being the final decision-maker, the one-directional nature of caring for everyone while nobody is structurally positioned to care for you, and the slow accumulation of weight that capable leaders absorb silently.
